Visiting graves is a noble practice that is highly encouraged in Islam. It not only benefits the deceased, but also strengthens our spiritual relationship with Allah SWT. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“ May peace be upon the inhabitants (of the graves) from among the believers and Muslims and we, God willing, will follow you all. I ask God for us and for you al-'afiyah (salvation).”

Reciting prayers at the grave is a way to ask for God's forgiveness and mercy for the deceased. Prayers recited sincerely and with full devotion are a practice that brings blessings.

Apart from prayers, etiquette when visiting graves is also very important. Lowering your voice, keeping the grave area clean, dressing modestly, and avoiding inappropriate actions such as joking are etiquette that must be observed.

Visiting the grave also reminds us of the temporary nature of life in this world. It makes us aware of the importance of preparing ourselves with righteous deeds for the provisions in the hereafter. By maintaining good manners and reciting the prescribed prayers, we not only pay respect to the deceased, but also nourish our faith and sense of responsibility as servants of Allah SWT.
